9 eggs were laid before the half term holiday, over a period of several days. The eggs hatched over the holiday and 9 hungry mouths were counted. Unfortunately over this week a few chicks seem to have fallen by the wayside. Mother Blue-tit is looking very harassed as a large (well relatively) sparrow keeps threatening her by trying to get into the box. We think the sparrow may have had 1 chick, which was called Greedy, because it kept crawling to the entry hole to be first in line when dad came back with food! We also lost another that had a feather down its throat that we thoat Mother Blue-tit would have removed, but didn’t. What an wonderful insight this camera is giving us!

The birds do seem interested and a tit has started to build a nest, but every time it goes cold again she disappears! Meanwhile, a sparrow keeps poping in but hasn’t yet plucked up the courage to take over the box! Keep watching and tell me what you see. Mrs Curry
